Owen County Friends of Animals (OCFA) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization based in Owenton, Kentucky, dedicated to protecting and caring for the community's displaced companion animals. Founded to address the critical gaps in county resources, OCFA works hand-in-hand with the local municipal shelter to dramatically reduce euthanasia rates and give every at-risk pet a fighting chance. Every animal that enters their program is provided with essential veterinary triage, age-appropriate vaccinations, and preventative care to ensure they are healthy and stabilized.

Operating without a traditional brick-and-mortar facility of their own, the organization relies entirely on a dedicated network of local foster homes to provide safe, nurturing environments where dogs and cats can decompress and socialize. Beyond local adoptions, OCFA coordinates vital transport networks with reputable out-of-state rescue partners to move animals from overcrowded rural areas to regions with higher adoption demands. Supported wholly by public donations, grassroots fundraising, and community volunteers, the organization works tirelessly to combat pet overpopulation through spay/neuter advocacy and to build a more compassionate safety net across Owen County.
