St. John Animal Control
St. John Animal Control
St. John Animal Control is a municipal animal welfare and enforcement division serving the Town of St. John in Lake County, Indiana. The department is responsible for enforcing local animal ordinances, stray intake, rabies tag registration compliance, and reuniting lost pets with their owners. In addition to field services, it takes in abandoned, stray, or displaced domestic animals and facilitates public adoptions.
Operating out of its municipal holding facility on White Oak Avenue, the department provides temporary housing, intake care, and adoption placement for unclaimed animals, occasionally working alongside regional rescue partners. Unlike private 501(c)(3) nonprofits, St. John Animal Control is funded primarily through municipal tax revenues, pet registration licensing fees, impound fees, and standard adoption processing fees collected through the town clerk’s office.
