About East Maui Animal Refuge (The Boo Boo Zoo)
The East Maui Animal Refuge (EMAR), affectionately known as "The Boo Boo Zoo," is a non-profit, no-kill rehabilitation sanctuary located in Haiku, Hawaii. Dedicated to providing a safe haven for injured and orphaned animals who would otherwise perish, the sanctuary cares for a diverse population of over 500 residents, ranging from domestic cats and dogs to livestock and native wildlife such as owls and deer.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, the Boo Boo Zoo relies entirely on private donations and community support to cover its extensive monthly operating costs. By offering specialized medical treatment and permanent housing to any animal in distress, the refuge ensures that even the most vulnerable creatures have the opportunity to live out their lives in peace and comfort within its two-acre sanctuary.

The PetAve.com Promise
Animals over profits: Unlike typical corporate chains, we are completely against selling animals — always, now, and forever.
You choose where 25% of the earnings goes: We believe in full transparency — we calculate this 25% before paying for any executive salaries or business overhead. By skipping the fancy corporate costs, we ensure the money actually lands where it belongs: with the animals.
