Michigan Animal Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Southgate, Michigan, serving the greater Metro-Detroit area (including Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, and St. Clair counties). The organization is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming stray, abandoned, and at-risk dogs and cats, pulling pets from overcrowded local shelters and providing intake veterinary care, core vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services.

Operating entirely through a network of volunteer foster homes rather than a physical shelter facility, the rescue socializes animals in domestic home environments. Michigan Animal Initiative is funded through public donations, community fundraisers, and standard adoption fees, placing vetted pets into screened permanent homes.

Animals over profits: Unlike typical corporate chains, we are completely against selling animals — always, now, and forever.

You choose where 25% of the earnings goes: We believe in full transparency — we calculate this 25% before paying for any executive salaries or business overhead. By skipping the fancy corporate costs, we ensure the money actually lands where it belongs: with the animals.
