The Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Smithfield, North Carolina, dedicated to improving companion animal welfare. Operating independently of county government funding, the league serves as a safety net for local dogs and cats by providing comprehensive veterinary care, essential vaccinations, and mandatory sterilization prior to adoption.

Operating without a physical shelter, JCAPL relies entirely on a network of local foster homes to give rescued animals a safe environment to decompress and socialize. Funded by public donations, the organization also manages a public spay/neuter assistance program, leads community Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives, and provides critical pet supplies to support families in need.
